Position Purpose: The Lower School Psychologist serves and collaborates with PreK-5th Grade students, parents, faculty and administration. Key Responsibilities include:
Develop and teach health and wellness programming for PreK-5th classes
Work as member of Student Support Team to review evaluations, student data and observations; consult on and support intervention strategies; communicate with parents, faculty/administration, and outside clinicians/ as needed in the process
Coordinate learning support and implementation of psycho-educational evaluation recommendations
Provide short-term counseling and consultation to students, parents, faculty, and administration
Initiate outreach and prevention programs focused on social and emotional skill building with children
Collaborate with the team of Upper and Middle School psychologists and counselors to ensure smooth transitions for our students from PreK-12
Assist with planning and participate in school-wide health and wellness initiatives
PhD, PsyD, or EdD in School Psychology or Counseling
Licensed Psychologist; School Psychology Certification Preferred
Several years of proven successful work with children and families in a clinical setting, school, or private practice
Strong knowledge of social and cognitive developmental stages of childhood
Strong cultural competency skills: ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures and diverse backgrounds
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills
Proactive in organizing tasks and priorities and strong follow through with communications and interventions
Strong ability to collaborate with all school constituents
Fluent with and willing to continue learning technology to manage calendar, communications, and data collection -Google apps, Outlook apps, Microsoft office, Educational software
Strong background and interest in professional development in social and emotional learning, differentiating curriculum, executive functioning, and parenting education
Strong work ethic, attendance, and punctuality
