This position will report directly to the Head of School and will serve on the senior leadership team. The role of the director is to manage the school’s efforts in seeking to be certain that all students, regardless of their race, national origin, gender identification, sexual orientation or socio-economic profile, feel fully included, accepted and engaged in the school community. The director will lead the implementation of the school’s diversity efforts, including but not limited to school wide DEI initiatives, affinity groups, all employee workshops, faculty recruitment, curriculum, and serve as the school ambassador, both internally and externally.
Bachelor’s degree is required
The ideal applicant would hold a master’s degree and have K-12 experience and/or boarding experience
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in an independent school
Strong communication skills, both written and orally
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask
Strong work ethic
The ability to form and navigate positive relationships with students, faculty, parents, board members, and other key stakeholders of Rabun Gap
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of the person in this position are to:
Provide faculty training for teaching the sensitive issues of student inclusion and cultural competency
Assist in the development of equitable and inclusive academic and extracurricular programs across all divisions of the school
Create an inclusive orientation of all school programming
Manage student programming in all three divisions that highlights diversity and inclusion
Work with the Board of Trustees in the formation of the school’s strategic plan
Pursue professional development opportunities; attend conferences and professional meetings in order to remain current with diversity and inclusion issues that may affect the school
Possibly teach one section in an academic area
Possibly coach or direct one season in the afternoon program
