The Out-of-Door Academy seeks a Lower School Nurse to join a thriving school community that is committed to providing a rigorous, relevant, and student-centered learning experience for every young person in our care. Reporting to the Head of Lower School, the Lower School Nurse will be responsible for the following:
Provide nursing consultations and treatment/emergency care for students during the school day.
Administer medications for students during the school day.
Manage the electronic and/or written student health records of all lower school students.
Provide routine health screenings.
Assist with in-classroom curriculum needs as it relates to health and wellness.
Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Current license to practice nursing in Florida.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
At least three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as a professional registered nurse, ideally in an independent school, college or university setting.
Proficient with Word, Excel and the Google drive platform.
A successful track record of working effectively with a wide range of constituencies including students, faculty, staff and parents.

Additional Salary Information: This is an exempt full-time faculty position. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Out-of-Door was founded on Siesta Key in 1924 to serve students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. In 1996, a second campus in the Lakewood Ranch area of Sarasota was acquired to accommodate the addition of an upper school. Over the past ten years, t...he school has experienced steady and impressive enrollment growth from 550 to 740 students. The campuses have also evolved and developed in response to this growth. Today, the five-acre Siesta Key campus is home to the Lower School (PK-5), and the 85-acre Uihlein Campus in Lakewood Ranch houses both the Middle and Upper Schools.
