The Director of Major and Planned Giving will serve as a lead fundraiser for Phoenix Country Day School, developing and managing major and planned gifts to the School. This position will report to the Assistant Head of School, and will work collaboratively with the Head of School, Advancement and Alumni team, Advancement Committee, members of the Board of Trustees, and faculty as needed to solicit gifts and perpetuate a strong culture of philanthropy throughout the school community.
This individual will also be the lead fundraiser for the School’s next capital campaign, expected to launch in the next 2 years. This arts-focused campaign will have a dramatic impact on one of the nation’s best independent PK-12 schools, and the only such school in the greater Phoenix area. The campaign timeline will likely be five years.
After the campaign is completed, the Director of Major and Planned Giving will continue to play an integral role in the life of the school, developing and managing the ongoing major and planned gifts effort for the School and continuing to oversee fundraising for critical campus initiatives.
Qualified candidates will have:
Demonstrated success in cultivation and solicitation of major gifts
Familiarity with planned giving techniques and best practices
An enthusiasm for connecting with others to achieve a greater goal
Experience with capital campaigns preferred but not required
Proven ability to create and deliver a strong fundraising message that appeals to a variety of donors
Strong appreciation for the importance of donor stewardship at all levels
Ability to work both independently and as an integral part of a collegial team
Ability to connect with a variety of constituencies, from current and prospective families to senior leadership, current students, faculty, and alumni
Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfort with conducting presentations large and small for various constituencies
An affinity for the PCDS culture of being happy, healthy, and hardworking
Demonstrated success as a confident and adaptable problem solver
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to prospects and donors

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
Experience with Fundraising Software: e.g., Raiser’s Edge preferred.
