Stone Ridge is seeking a Part-Time (50%) Upper School Fine Arts Teacher to begin as soon as possible.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The Part-Time Upper School Fine Arts Teacher is responsible for teaching fine arts in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. Possessing strong knowledge of studio drawing and painting, printmaking, and mixed media, s/he teaches Advanced Placement 2D Art and Studio II. Working closely with colleagues in the Fine Arts Department and throughout the Upper School, s/he creates and updates plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum. S/he actively collaborates with Learning Strategists, Librarians, Educational Technologists, and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students. S/he attends all faculty and employee meetings and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.

The ideal candidate has experience in independent and/or Catholic school. S/he has taught high school fine arts. S/he develops, in students, both an appreciation of fine arts and the ability to develop portfolios as they pursue further studies. An early career candidate is encouraged to apply, especially if s/he has an interest in refining the pedagogy, career, and profession of education. S/he holds a Master’s Degree in education or fine arts. Ideally, s/he is familiar with and/or has experience teaching in the model of Understanding by Design. S/he demonstrates a collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills.
