Grace Church School’s mission of academic excellence, ethical values and service, and inclusive community anchors our program and informs our pedagogy and curriculum, preparing our students to lead meaningful and productive lives. The school nurtures and educates the whole child, understanding that our humanity comprises mind, body, heart, and spirit. We celebrate our differences, respect our diversity, and embrace our shared human experience.
In the high school division, students are challenged to reach their full potential, have big dreams, ask essential questions, and wrestle with complex ideas, working to solve real-world problems and participate in the interconnected global community. Our students see themselves as living actors in history and agents for positive change in the world. By linking academic learning and real-world learning, our students understand the dynamic possibilities of using their knowledge and skills to ask new questions and create new knowledge.
As the foundation for our students’ growth and development, the school affirms the enduring value and abiding influence of our historical and cultural past, as it informs the present world in which we live. A blend of tradition and innovation, our high school program grounds students in the core academic disciplines and prepares them to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Previous Writing Center experience is preferred
The High School Division at Grace Church School seeks part-time writing consultants for the school’s Writing Center. Writing consultants work with students individually and/or facilitate writing groups for essays, assignments and projects across all disciplines. Consultants provide readers' feedback on both academic and non-academic written projects, at any and every stage of the writing process, with a deep respect for students’ work and pace. Consultants will also be asked to work closely with faculty and run mini-workshops in classes or at the Writing Center. We are especially interested in applicants comfortable with working with both beginner and advanced students in Spanish and French.
The ideal writing consultant is an exceptional listener, clear communicator and an experienced writer interested in working with high school students. Consultants must attend an orientation meeting with the head of the high school, participate in a short training session and conversation with the Writing Center coordinator and be available for fortnightly staff meetings. Lunch is provided for consultants working during the 12-2PM sessions.
