Magellan International School in Austin, Texas is seeking a Director of Admissions, who will oversee the program of recruiting and enrolling new students. The Director is responsible for participating in the development, implementation, and assessment of a strategic enrollment plan and for meeting recruitment goals. Magellan is an International Baccalaureate World School, with a Spanish immersion language model and a curriculum influenced by design thinking. The school serves students ages 3 through 8th grade. The Director of Admissions reports to the Head of Advancement, Marketing & Communications and serves as a member of the school’s Leadership Team.
Presents the school to prospective families through proactive communications with prospective families. Serves as primary relationship manager with all prospective families of the school, providing timely and personal outreach by phone and email to engage families considering the school.
Organizes and hosts information sessions and school tours. Participates in school and industry fairs that drive interest in and applications to the school. Promotes relationships with outside institutions or groups (schools, libraries, civic associations, daycares, real estate agencies, etc.) which can be helpful in attracting quality students.
Directs the admissions process from point of inquiry through enrollment. Handles applications and communication with candidates’ parents systematically and efficiently; interviews prospective parents to ensure alignment of educational values; arranges admissions testing for prospective students; secures necessary student credentials; and communicates final acceptance and enrollment decisions to the appropriate individuals.
Manages/participates in the Admissions Committee which makes final decisions on accepting applicants to the school. Manages/participates in the Financial Aid Committee which oversees financial aid applications and awards.
With MIS Leadership Team, coordinates all re-enrollment activities with ongoing monitoring of attrition and retention. Works with members of the administration and faculty to organize specific retention efforts at the key grade levels.
Delegates projects and tasks, as appropriate, to Assistant Director of Admissions and Advancement and admissions volunteers.
Prepares and maintains dashboards and reports regarding admissions pipeline and enrollment, including geographical distribution of students, financial aid, and attrition. Shares and interprets statistics when appropriate to the leadership team, faculty, and board of directors of Magellan International School.
Provides input into the strategy and design of advertising and marketing initiatives to drive interested families to consider Magellan.
Recruits, trains and oversees a network of parent and student volunteers to support admissions.

Required Qualifications and Experience
A minimum 3 - 5 years experience in school admissions, with direct and primary responsibility for managing relationships with prospective families, or equivalent experience in a sales, recruiting or marketing role.
Exceptional communication skills to ensure persuasive and passionate representation of the values of the school in person and writing; includes the ability to speak in public forums and to prepare materials for presentations.
Ability to develop and manage relationships with prospective families to drive towards enrollment in the school.
High energy, attention to detail, exceptional professionalism and ability to organize effectively.
Comfort using technology effectively and appropriately.
Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Bilingual (Spanish) language skills.
Experience working with Salesforce and HubSpot for pipeline management.
Experience recruiting individuals and/or families with diverse backgrounds.
