Germantown Academy, located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for a full-time position of Director of Operations. Position Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Operations will oversee many non-academic operations of the school, specifically auxiliary programs. The Director of Operations will maintain existing and create new revenue-producing programs, while keeping the school’s Mission at the forefront of decision making. The Director of Operations will assist in the overall business operations of the school, specifically in the creation and maintenance of budgets and income goals, oversight and development of professional and hourly staff, and formation and delivery of project-based assignments. This position does not qualify for tuition remission.
Oversee several non-academic operations of Germantown Academy.
Provide direct supervision for Germantown Academy’s Health Office, Childcare Center, School Store and Auxiliary Programs, which include Day Camp & Summer Programs, Rentals, and Auxiliary Chinese Programs, ensuring that all operational and financial aspects of these entities are functioning efficiently and are in line with the school’s mission.
Initiate and maintain new revenue generating opportunities for the school.
Act as liaison with the school’s food service provider to achieve financial, operational, and health & wellness goals for the dining program.
Assist with all special projects as requested by the Chief Operating Officer and Head of School.
Program Leader: Lead auxiliary programs by leveraging team skills, talents, strengths and available resources to maximum potential in achieving strategic objectives.
Effective Communicator: Interact with school community leaders, administrators, and staff members by using written and oral presentations to articulate program needs, capabilities, and opportunities.
Accomplished Team Builder: Advocate staff professional development through goal setting, mentoring and encouragement.
Focused Project Manager: Make personal investment in achieving results and desired outcomes through disciplined approach in tackling tough issues and challenging opportunities.
Business Acumen: Work with the Academy’s administrative team to develop a strategic plan for Auxiliary programs to ensure growth that is consistent with the Academy’s overall goals. Build an operating budget for Auxiliary programs and maintain the financial records necessary to provide monthly analysis, reconciliations and variance analysis of the cost and income centers.
Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years management experience.
Experience managing a wide array of programs and staff.
Quantitative skills and experience with accounting, budgets, and financial management.
Preference for individual who has experience in running school-based programs.
Demonstrated competency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Ability to represent Germantown Academy positively to internal and external constituents.
