French American School of Princeton, a PK-8 bilingual school located in Princeton, New Jersey, seeks candidates for the position of the Assistant Head of School, effective August 1, 2020.
The Assistant Head is a highly visible community leader who works closely with the Head of School to oversee the wellbeing of the school and its community.
Reporting to the Head of School, the Assistant Head’s duties will include but are not limited to:
-Assist the Head of School in internal and external matters
-Lead the Middle School Division and implement the IB-MY Program
-Represent the Head of School when necessary at meetings and events
-Organize and coordinate Faculty and Staff recruitment and hiring
-Coordinate all School Calendars
-Coordinate Faculty teaching and duty assignments
-Design and implement Faculty orientation, training, mentoring, and evaluation
-The Assistant Head will also be involved in special projects with the Head (e.g. Strategic Plan; French and American accreditations; Marketing Plan etc.)
The Assistant Head plays a major role in the life of the school and is expected to be deeply involved in the day-to-day work of Faculty and students. Therefore, extensive experience in a day- school setting is a requirement for this position: candidates with advanced degrees and strong backgrounds in administration and teaching will be preferred.
Personal characteristics necessary for the position include: high energy and enthusiasm for all aspects of school life; organization and initiative; warmth and a good sense of humor; collaborative mindset and consensus-building skills; patience and persistence; and excellent communication skills.
Candidates should be fluent in both English and French.
