St. Mark’s School of Texas seeks an experienced, compassionate Computer Science teacher to join our Lower School faculty beginning in the 2020-2021 school year. The Lower School is a vibrant community for boys in grades one through four, grounded in a strong curriculum and supported by a collaborative faculty and staff. Competitive candidates will possess the skills to nurture the development of young boys along with the expertise to teach productivity programs such as Google Apps, Microsoft Office, cloud computing, block-based programming, robotics, and keyboarding. In addition to content-area topics, the teacher will also focus on helping students develop collaborative and trouble-shooting skills. Candidates should be effective at teaching topics related to digital citizenship and global fluency. Additionally, the most competitive candidates will be organized, effective communicators and positive team players, who find joy working with elementary-age students.

Character and leadership education are important elements of the School’s program that spans all Divisions and is integrated throughout the curriculum.
Teach first through fourth-grade computer science curriculum
Organize and supervise a computer lab and its equipment
Meet bi-weekly with grade-level teachers to provide technical support their various units of study
Provide hands-on assistance to students in their regular classrooms when projects and activities warrant this help. (iPads in grades 1-2; Surface Pros and Chromebooks in grades 3-4)
Participate in the character and leadership education program
Continue to participate in professional development experiences with a goal of keeping up to date with this ever-changing discipline
Experience / Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
Fluency with a variety of technology tools; Google Educator experience a plus
Five or more years teaching experience at the elementary level; independent school experience is a plus
Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning
Passion and patience for working with children at their developmental levels
