We are seeking an outstanding substitute middle school science teacher for our students. This position will begin in early March 2020.
Teach a challenging course of study in a developmentally-appropriate manner, with an emphasis on differentiating instruction.
Follow and develop existing science curriculum, which includes engaging students in multiple modes of class activities including in-depth investigation of a particular topic and varying assessment types.
Create an inclusive classroom environment through regular class meetings, supportive exchanges with students, and clear expectations for community behavior.
Collaborate with other middle school teachers, educators, and specialist teachers to understand curriculum, attend school trips, and engage in problem solving as it arises.
Work and communicate effectively with parents in formal and informal conferences, written reports, and general constructive feedback.
Support and following the school policies and procedures.
Be a positive and contributing member of the professional community.
Middle school science teaching experience preferable
Regularly sit, stand, talk, and listen.
Visually intercept visitors.
Regularly use close and distance vision.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Turn, bend, reach, and occasionally use a ladder.
Work in both an outdoor San Francisco environment (often foggy and cold) and a climate-controlled classroom.
