Latin School of Chicago, an independent K-12 school located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park area, is seeking a substitute for its full-time Vocal Music Director who will be on paternity leave for 4-6 weeks from February-April 2020. The position will include, during that time, teaching four middle school and one upper school chorus classes, leading a cappella rehearsals for the upper school SSAA and TTBB ensembles before school four days a week, leading middle school musical rehearsals after school on various days, middle school lunch duty, faculty meetings, and any other obligations as assigned. A bachelor’s degree in music education is required – a master’s degree is preferred – with an emphasis on vocal music/choral conducting, along with at least 5 years-experience working with middle school- and high school-aged chorus students. Extensive knowledge of young voices and vocal development as well as proficient conducting and piano skills are a must.
