The Fayetteville Academy “Director of Facilities and Grounds” directs the Academy’s facilities and grounds department. The position is a 12-month position to begin immediately, and the Director of Facilities serves as a member of the Administrative Team. The Director of Facilities is a service oriented position that works directly with all faculty and staff and reports directly to the Head of School.
The Director of Facilities is responsible for the following:
Oversight of the functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, elevators, etc.
Maintenance of all school buildings and grounds
Maintenance, upkeep, and organization of all school-owned tools and maintenance equipment;
Oversight of all employees within the Facilities Department
Input on hiring and compensation decisions pertaining to all employees within the Facilities Department;
Management of the Facilities Department budget and expenses
Oversight of all school inspections and emergency drills, and upkeep of all records pertaining to inspections and drills
Oversight of contractors for facility needs and projects entailing HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, cleaning, and others
Familiarity with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures related to upkeep and repair of buildings and grounds. The Director should make all repairs s/he is able to make before employing outside sources;
Reliance on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Performance of a variety of tasks
The Director of Facilities will also:
Serve with the Head of School as the primary points of contact for any school emergency situation
Make at least one complete observation per week of the school’s buildings and grounds. The purpose of the observation is to identify any matters needing attention, to interact directly with members of the faculty and staff, and to give direct updates on any current and pending projects.
Submit a current list of projects, repairs, and requests to the Head of School on a weekly basis
Update the Administrative Team on Facilities topics at regularly scheduled Team meetings
