Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a full-time French Teacher for the 2020-21 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The teacher will be responsible for teaching French to students in Fifth through Eighth Grades. The teacher will also be responsible for managing the daily affairs of a classroom including parent education and communications, teacher collaborations, and other school-based duties and responsibilities. Teachers are also expected to contribute to the Calvert community as coaches, club advisors, and serve on school committees on occasion.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with prior experience teaching French to middle school age students in a school setting. A Master’s degree is preferred. Experience teaching Spanish is not required but is preferred. Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
