Academy High is located in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. This quintessential college town is home to the University of Illinois. About the School
Academy High is an independent, non-profit, college preparatory day school located in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, population +128,000. The school opened its doors to a pioneer class of nine students in 2017, and has grown each year, with plans to serve grades nine through twelve next year and graduate its first class. With a current student population of 38 (spanning grades 9 through 11) and a faculty of six, the schools touts as its mission, “We believe that by nurturing students to develop adventurous minds, bold spirits, and compassionate hearts, our students can change the world.” The founding families of the school wanted to create an independent school opportunity with a twenty-first century education for the community.
Academy High provides students with an engaging, innovative learning environment that prepares them for the future. Devoted faculty support and engage students to attain their greatest academic and personal achievements. Academy High students have unique opportunities to engage in the community and beyond, including science classes held in advanced laboratories, math classes engaging with supercomputer centers on the University of Illinois campus, literature classes attending Shakespeare performances at Chicago’s Navy Pier Theater, and Mandarin classes traveling to China for spring break. Accreditation is expected in the spring of 2020.
