In support of the School’s mission, the Director of Service Learning will provide program vision, leadership, and manage the School’s community-based learning and civic engagement experiences for middle and upper school students. The Service Learning Program’s primary focus is to provide students meaningful connections with communities near and far and opportunities to explore their passions, learn, and serve together.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Director also teaches one academic class, as do all Academic Administrators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Design and implement a school-wide program that provides real-world, meaningful service experiences that build student skills, encourage students to engage with deep questions of equity and justice, and positively impact the community
Partner with School leadership to execute strategic initiatives and support the School’s mission of ethical responsibility
Provide leadership and training to faculty in facilitation of roles and responsibilities
Create, evaluate and enhance student opportunities and experiences
Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and operations
Lead student and faculty focus groups to improve and enhance programming
Work collaboratively with School leadership to develop program initiatives that create partnerships between students, faculty and community partners
Serve as a representative of the School in a positive and professional manner
Manage the logistics of in/out-of-classroom experiences
Organize opportunities and events for students and faculty to reflect on and share their experiences with others
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Team to promote programs and share student and faculty experiences
Manage the Program’s budget and adhere to Business Office and all other School policies and procedures
Three years of experience in management of community/volunteer service, service-learning and/or civic learning at a middle or high school preferred
Experience in developing and implementing student programming/activities
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship building skills
Ability to energize and inspire others
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently, set priorities and solve problems quickly and creatively
Proficient in computer systems and programs to include Google Suite or Microsoft Office
