Fraser Woods Montessori School is seeking an experienced middle school Humanities teacher to cover a maternity leave for approximately 6-8 weeks starting March 30, 2020. Humanities integrates English, Language Arts, and Social Studies to make learning more authentic.
Teach in alignment and support of the mission and values of Fraser Woods Montessori School.
Use effective and positive teacher language to promote academic and social growth, as well as rapport with every student.
Teach lessons that are active and engaging; and teach units and educational experiences as outlined in the curriculum.
Provide families general information through weekly blog posts and email families on an as- needed basis to provide feedback on student needs.
Teach 3 sections of Middle School Humanities, an elective class, and a daily advisory.
Lead a student-centered classroom environment and provide activities and opportunities that encourage skill development such as communication, curiosity, exploration and problem-solving.
Create a supportive and caring classroom environment in which students can learn and interact positively with one another; through student-centered instruction and authentic assessment.
Maintain an open and cooperative relationship with students, colleagues and parents.
Participate in Middle School faculty and departmental meetings; performing various faculty supervisory duties.

Established in 1968, Fraser Woods Montessori School is a toddler through 8th grade, co-educational independent school located in the historic town of Newtown, Connecticut. FWM serves approximately 160 students on a beautiful 8 acre campus. The Middle School follows a more traditional, independent school model while remaining true to FWM's Montessori values that are more prominent in the lower grades. FWM provides a challenging educational environment while also focusing on the social-emotional needs of children ages 15 months to 14 years of age.
