Coach two seasons of athletics or after school activities.
Serve on a dorm team.
Participate in all required meetings.
Perform other supervisory duties as required of all middle school teachers - lunch, recess, tutorial, break, tutorial, morning supervision.
Communicate with parents/guardians about student and advisee progress as necessary.
Travel on annual overnight trips as assigned by division head.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (in subject area, preferred).
1 to 3 years of classroom teaching experience (preferred).
Possess a sound understanding of the developmental stages of middle school students.
Develop a unit of study that spans several weeks, culminating in a meaningful assessment.
Ability and willingness to facilitate differentiated, student-centered best practices.
Possess an understanding of literary analysis, writing workshop, and grammar instruction.
Ability and willingness to encourage student discovery and autonomy of thought.
The candidate should be organized and able to manage a series of student information platforms and systems, including: BlackBaud, Gmail, and Google environment.
