Indian Creek School is an independent coeducational day school offering a broad curriculum in the liberal arts. Founded in 1973, Indian Creek School enrolls approximately 550 students in grades Pre-K through twelve from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and economic backgrounds. This position is an hourly, 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. shift position, that directly reports to the Facilities Manager.
Serve as a team member responsible for janitorial duties, as well as building and grounds maintenance, and evening event support for Upper School campus.
Provide assistance to leased Lower School campus when needed
Work collaboratively and cooperatively with the Facilities and Janitorial teams
Able to perform general repairs and maintenance needs of building and equipment
Provide “curb appeal” needs (litter removal, upkeep of main visibility areas), and perform maintenance and minor repairs for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, life safety (fire suppression), and grounds/athletics systems; as well as routine carpentry work
Available and able to perform snow removal duties
Manage inventory, budget, and organize orders for needed materials and supplies to be submitted and consulted with Facilities Manager
Adherence to best practices, ICS standard operating procedures, and OSHA/other governing bodies’ procedures. Must be agreeable to participate and attend all mandated trainings, as required by the Facilities Manager
Collect and dispose of waste stream items
Provide dusting, cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting, and waxing needs, using ICS provided cleaning agents and equipment
Showcase positive, supportive, and collaborative interactions with community members.
Support community events (internal and external), performing duties such as traffic and parking assistance and setting/tear-down of event materials (tables/chairs)
A minimum of one (1) year experience in custodial, building maintenance or general labor
Strong interest in the facilities management industry and advancement opportunities
Possess a valid driver’s license
Federal and State Background Check clearance
School environment which includes both indoor and outdoor responsibilities
Handle, carry and manipulate office materials
Read handwritten documents and other records or reports
Exchange information in person, by computer, or on the telephone
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
Some lifting, carrying, bending. Able to lift and move up to 75 lbs.
Sustain long periods of light to moderately heavy physical activity
Ability to operate equipment confidently
Ability to operate machinery confidently and safely. Equipment examples include floor buffer, lawn care and trail equipment, light-duty tractor (with a bucket)
Tolerance of chemicals and fuels (e.g. bleach, floor wax, diesel fuel, fertilizer)
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to collaborate and maintain a positive relationship with others
Strong ability and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
Reflective practitioner in a state of constant professional growth and a willingness to share their craft with others
