Portledge School was founded in 1965 and is located on the beautiful North Shore of Long Island. Approximately fifty minutes from NYC by train, Portledge is nestled on a pastoral 63-acre tree-lined campus that is known for its cherry blossoms in spring. Enrolling approximately 525 students in grades PN-12, Portledge offers a competitive college preparatory program in a warm, inclusive community. Portledge School is accepting applications for a Chief Financial Officer to begin on July 1, 2020. This individual, who reports to the Head of School, will serve on the Administrative Team and sit on the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees. They are responsible for the following areas:
Financial Management and Risk
Oversee the financial operations of the school to ensure its financial health; develop short and long-term financial strategies; oversee the financial reporting, internal controls, policies and procedures, productively collaborate with multiple stakeholders in annual and multi-year operational budget planning.
Collaborate with Director of Admissions and Director of Financial Aid on matters to support enrollment and forecast optimal enrollment.
Oversee all banking activities and management of cash and investment accounts.
Ensure compliance regarding all financial functions; and
Act as a liaison with legal counsel on all risk matters.
Lead team of direct reports including; Director of Human Resources/Controller, Director of Facilities, Director of Auxiliary Programs, Director of Learning Services, Director of Information Technology, and the School Store Manager
Manage outside vendors; Security, Food Services
Ensure school buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard and remain compliant with local, state and federal requirements
Work with Head of School for planning short and long-term facility projects
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, strategic, and management skills along with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability and patience to lead change and continuous improvement initiatives;
Ability to work with a wide range of people - students, parents, faculty, staff, vendors, donors
Excellent communication, planning, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with colleagues;
Ability to think creatively and strategically, have excellent judgment
Strong computer skills including; Google Apps, MS Office Suite

Qualifications: Masters Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role; non-profit experience a plus. Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred.
