| Washington Montessori School Director of Annual Giving Washington Montessori School (WMS) is seeking a Director of Annual Giving to join our program for the 2020-2021 school year. Located in beautiful Litchfield County, CT, WMS is less than an hour from Great Barrington, MA, less than two hours from NYC, and an easy day trip to Boston. The mission of Washington Montessori School is to educate children and to teach and nurture the skills necessary for success in a changing world through a foundation of Montessori philosophy and principles and best educational practices. WMS also upholds the highest standards of independent school education as articulated in the Standards of the Connecticut Association Independent Schools, Principles of Good Practice of the National Association of Independent Schools, and the American Montessori Society’s Philosophy and Practice and Code of Ethics. Successful candidate will join a dynamic, supportive, and forward-thinking teaching community of over 50 individuals serving 250 students from 18 months through 8th grades. The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for carrying out all Development activities related to our Annual Fund at Washington Montessori School. The Director of Annual Giving is directly accountable to the Director of Development and the Head of School. The Director of Annual Giving will be a representative of WMS in the community and to those with whom she or he comes into contact through the job. The Director of Annual Giving will work in tandem with the Board of Trustees on ongoing stewardship and cultivation efforts. This is a 32-hour a week position. Director of Annual Giving oversees all activity relating to the annual fundraising goals of WMS. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Annual Appeal: Responsible for the Annual Appeal strategy and plan. Works with the Director of Communications on the creation of all solicitation collateral around the Annual Appeal. Works with the Development Committee to organize a volunteer network of Parents, Grandparents, Parents of Alumni, Alumni, and the Development Chair of the Board of Trustees to engage Trustees in stewardship and cultivation efforts. Provides volunteers with materials for solicitation, including a volunteer handbook and volunteer lists. Plans and conducts orientation meeting and kick-off/education event. Manages appropriate and timely acknowledgment of donor gifts and volunteer communications. Makes sure all donors and volunteers are thanked by the Head of School, Solicitor and Board Chair, as appropriate. Maintains detailed records of donors and gifts. Special Events: Assists with planning and coordination of fundraising events, like WMS Presents and Polar Plunge (or similar); alumni reunions, anniversary celebrations. Assists with securing corporate or individual sponsorships for all fundraising events. Data Management: Maintains meticulous donor records and gifts in development database--to include all WMS constituencies: alumni, current and past parents, grandparents and friends of the school. Reconciles fundraising accounts monthly with the business office and maintains requisite information for end of year audit. Produces an Annual Report on all fundraising for respective campaigns for publication in the annual On Circle, and writes supplemental pieces where appropriate. Manages annually updated enrollment records in development database. |
