Sacred Heart Academy is seeking a long-term substitute to teach Kindergarten in its Lower School Division beginning December 2020 until June 10, 2021.  We are looking for a creative, energetic, and compassionate teacher who can engage students, encourage curiosity, and create an inviting, nurturing environment.

 The ideal applicant: 

• Utilizes innovative and creative approaches, using varied strategies including project-based assignments/projects to help students expand and build upon previous skills developed. 
• Plans and implements a program of engaging and challenging classroom learning opportunities for literature-based language arts, mathematics, and science.
• Encourages students to take personal responsibility for their learning and creates an environment where each student is able to develop a positive academic mindset learning to persevere and take risks. 
• Maintains partnerships with parents and facilitates open and effective communication with families. 
• Employs effective classroom management techniques to  create a productive learning environment where students build positive relationships, recognize and manage their emotions, and choose appropriate behaviors as they learn and grow as a Child of the Sacred Heart. 
• Participates in division and faculty meetings, in-service days, and committee meetings. 
• Maintains an active commitment to professional growth and development. 

Lower School faculty are required to perform supervisory duties (e.g., recess, lunch, etc.). 

Due to COVID-19, all applicants need to be prepared to teach in-person and completely virtually using Google Meet sessions, the school portal, SEESAW and other online platforms.
