| Green Hedges seeks a long-term substitute to fill a full-time Montessori Assistant teacher position from March - June, 2021. Green Hedges is a private independent preschool through Grade 8 school with approximately 150 students. The School is located fourteen miles west of Washington, DC in Vienna, VA. The ideal candidate will have a background in early childhood education and a commitment to the Montessori philosophy and method. The Montessori Assistant works with and supports the lead teacher in planning and implementing a full Montessori curriculum, as defined by Green Hedges School, including social, creative, and academic activities. Classroom assistants are crucial in modeling courteous and respectful behavior as well as contributing to the warm, supportive, and calm atmosphere that is the hallmark of the Montessori classroom. Requirements A successful candidate for the Montessori Assistant position with have: Undergraduate degree in education or a related field • Experience working in a Montessori classroom setting with young children • Knowledge of the academic and social-emotional development of preschool and kindergarten students • A love for working with young children • A high level of energy and strong, positive presence • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills • Initiative • Ability to collaborate with colleagues • Experience working with technological tools used in distance learning and a readiness to adapt to possible changes in learning settings. The position will include a transition period in the classroom with the current teacher. Candidates must successfully complete a required background check.
