POSITION OVERVIEW Milken Community School is seeking a Computer Science Teacher to join our Innovation and Fabrication Integration team. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where the goal is to give students opportunities to learn new skills and integrate them with their passions. Primary responsibilities include: teaching five computer science classes per year from beginning programming to Advanced Placement level, serving as a student advisor, and collaborating on school-wide programming. RESPONSIBILITIES - Monitor progress of each student for mastery of course content, providing differentiation when necessary and appropriate, and consistent high-quality feedback. - Utilize collaborative and individual learning opportunities that support student growth. - We currently use the CodeHS platform but welcome a teacher who wants to design supplementary lessons and collaborate with Engineering on projects that require code (i.e. Robotics). - Develop learning experiences where inquiry, curiosity, and exploration are valued - Create a learning environment where students feel safe and welcome; demonstrate situational adaptability that balances the needs of social teens, the needs of the lesson, and teachable moments. - Engage with students outside the classroom through office hours, extracurricular activities, clubs, and school-wide programming.
