Lake Forest Academy is seeking a Mathematics Intern for the spring semester running from mid-January through May 2021. This position will teach Algebra I to cover a maternity leave from early-February through May. Additionally, this person will help support the schools learning resource program, as well as some of the school’s remote students around the globe. This position may also be involved in the school’s co-curricular afternoon program. The school is deeply committed to a diverse faculty and student body. Salary for the position will be $12,000.  Due to the temporary nature of the internship, this position is not benefit eligible.

General overview of responsibilities:

• Teach assigned section of Algebra I during Maternity Leave (Feb-May)
• Support Remote Students around the globe with one-on-one virtual Math help  
• Offer in-person Math help sessions during the academic day
• Assist Learning Resource Specialist with: 
• One-on-one meetings with students
• Small Group Study Halls, working with 3-5 students in each
• Keeps record of missing work for students assigned to Structured Study Hall.
• Assist with class coverage for remote teachers across the school
• Coach a season of co-curricular athletics, or the equivalent, if interested
• Serve as a co-Advisor to a small group of students

Preferred experience and/or education:

• Bachelor's degree or higher required
• Interest in, and/or experience, teaching a broad range of mathematics courses from Algebra 1 through Calculus.
