The Loomis Chaffee School is seeking an imaginative educator who can lead our initiatives to support students in their effort to realize “their best selves and the common good.”
The successful candidate should have deep experience in working with students in a secondary school setting, a demonstrated passion for engaged citizenship, the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, a desire to help develop students’ ability to participate meaningfully with the wider world, and a deep commitment to the work of diversity, equity and inclusion. Our goal is to encourage in our students the agency, knowledge, skills, and sense of responsibility to positively shape and lead community. Some examples of the responsibilities of this position as the Keller Family Director of the Norton Family Center for the Common Good include, but are not limited to, the following: -Design and lead the Seminar in the Common Good and the Seminar in the Best Self, a required two-year seminar series for all ninth and tenth grade students. -Organize and manage the Norton Fellows program, which provides grants to rising juniors and seniors for community engagement projects. -Manage and promote the Community Engagement and Community Work programs. -Plan regular dialogues, events and programs on campus with other offices and student clubs and organizations. -Collaborate with other offices as they seek to advance the school’s mission and build community. -Work with colleagues to encourage engagement across our community. -Serve as a thought leader on campus.
