Position Begins: mid-August 2021 Status: Full-time, Exempt Department: Instructional Faculty, Upper School Job Description: The position of Upper School Fitness teacher is an on-going, full-time appointment. It includes teaching four sections of 9th-grade Fitness for Life, and the monitoring of open gym. In addition, the candidate hired for this position would be required to coach at least one season of an SPA sport -- with additional stipend -- with the hope the candidate would be open to coaching a second season sport for an additional stipend. Our fitness classes are centered around topics and activities designed to promote the students’ physical and emotional health and well-being. Students explore various topics that help promote a healthy sense of self and positive approach to fitness, nutrition, and healthy habits. Construction and implementation of workout plans, knowledge and application of nutrition, as well as working towards personal health and fitness goals are a part of the required experience for each student. The most successful candidates will approach their role as an advisor with a drive to better understand the emotional needs of their students and support a program where self-reflection, empathy, and flexibility are the goals. Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration and communication with both colleagues and students, is required.
