Sayre School seeks a dedicated, supportive, engaging educator for the position of Head of Upper School. The Upper School Head reports to the Head of School and is a member of the Leadership Team. Sayre’s Upper School (US) is the preeminent college preparatory program in the Bluegrass and the Head of Upper School oversees all facets of a 9th-12th grade program of 260 students with 28 faculty and staff members, that includes the Dean of Students, College Counselors, and the US Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator. The Upper School features signature programs in public speaking, life skills (the Don Jacobs Sr. Seminars), and the ability to earn diploma distinctions in Global Studies, Environmental Sustainability and the Creative Arts. With the recent adoption of a new strategic plan, Vision 2030, the Upper School Head will assume a central role in the implementation and execution of key goals which include the development of an increasingly innovative, flexible and experiential curriculum, the continued enhancement to diversity, equity and inclusion programming and the elevation of health and social-emotional well-being initiatives. The next Upper School Head will join an educational community where joyful, articulate, and self-confident students are guided and nurtured by dedicated and passionate faculty and staff committed to the social, emotional and intellectual growth of each child. Our students participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities and sports programs (18 teams for boys and girls). Through student government, Service in Society (a philanthropy elective), KYA and KUNA, leadership, advocacy and service attributes are cultivated and reinforced.
