Details Posted: December 21, 2020 Location: ENGLEWOOD, Colorado Show Map Salary: $26,000 + housing Type: Full Time - Internship Categories: Internship/Fellowships, Technology Preferred Education: 4 Year Degree Kent Denver’s Office of Innovation is seeking a resident beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year. This two-year residency is designed for those who are interested in offering their passion, ideas, and expertise to students and educators at a nationally ranked independent school, while gaining experience and mentorship for a career in leading, teaching and supporting innovation work in schools. This residency offers the ability to be a part of all areas of innovation at Kent Denver, and includes the following core responsibilities: Help staff two Impact Studios (maker-spaces), working to support students and faculty who are designing, prototyping, and problem-solving using fabrication and CAD tools. Inspire student-directed work in areas of innovation including technology, research, design and entrepreneurship. In collaboration with Kent Denver, develop an educational research project in the area of innovation to pursue through residency, preferably one that considers the intersection of design and equity work. Run point on developing, deepening, and/or strengthening the relationship with one of the Office of Innovation’s external partners. Provide logistical support to innovation projects as assigned by the Chief Innovation Officer. Opportunities to teach, or co-teach, coursework and/or advise may be available as appropriate. The Office of Innovation is a part of Kent Denver School. Kent Denver School is a college preparatory day school of 700 students in grades 6-12 located on 220 acres in suburban Denver. The position comes with a $26,000 salary which includes housing provided on campus in a faculty residence hall, and a complete benefits package. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Design Technology, or a related field preferred. Previous work with teenagers is desired. Commitment to the belief that a diversity of perspectives, cultures, ideas, and skills working together is fundamental to the health, sustainability and effectiveness of a community. Ability to meaningfully receive, reflect on and apply feedback to one’s professional growth. Ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing with students, colleagues, and parents. familiarity with technology including computer-aided design tools, electronics, computer software and programming. Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to proactively streamline processes, solve problems, organize ideas, and customize solutions that benefit community members. Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus.
