Position Description The Site Director is a year-long position designed to ensure that HGW programming is well-coordinated and successful. While much of the school-year work is done on a part-time basis and involves communication with central office staff, hiring of new staff, and planning for the upcoming summer, the position becomes a full-time job during the duration of the summer program, including the week-long orientation session. Job Responsibilities The Site Director’s areas of direct responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following: - Attend planning sessions during the school year
- Collaborate with the program director in the hiring of lead and assistant teachers and other site staff
- If applicable, attend training around state regulations related to operational and safety procedures
- Ensure compliance to local and/or state regulations around all operational aspects of the program
- Train lead and assistant teachers in the implementation of academic curriculum
- Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback as needed
- Mentor faculty in the development and implementation of quality, differentiated instruction, ensuring that students’ individual needs are met
- Create and execute daily schedule of program and operational activities
- Oversee all operational aspects of the program, including bus coordination, supply management, communication protocol, field trips, and food service
- Address disciplinary issues with the assistance of teaching staff and the program director
- Communicate student-related issues with families and document such conversations per procedure
- Coordinate campus resources as they relate to the program (e.g., classroom space, cafeteria, computer and technology usage, swimming facilities, )
- Organize field trips, extracurricular activities, and community events in collaboration with the host school, outside partners, and the program director
- Oversee the ordering, expense reporting, and inventorying of supplies and equipment
- Serve as a liaison within respective host school and identify ways to communicate on behalf of the Horizons Greater Washington community
- Schedule permitting, attending conferences and speaking engagements as a representative of Horizons Greater Washington
