Position: Academic Skills Center Coordinator Reporting Line: Reports directly to the Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment School Summary: All Saints Academy was founded in 1966 as St. Paul's Episcopal Parish School under Father Gilbertson and Father Sturrup of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. The school did not adopt its current name until 1993, when the middle and upper school portions of the facility were added, extending the grades serviced to grade twelve. The Academic Skills Center Coordinator Overview: The Academic Skills Center (ASC) Coordinator is an experienced educator that has experience working with students needing enrichment and support. The ASC Coordinator will support the academic progress and achievement of students in our K-12 school. The ASC Coordinator will partner teachers to help ensure that all students graduate each division as independent thinkers, principled leaders and humble learners. The ASC Coordinator uses a variety of research-based methods to share and practice with students, focusing on executive functioning skills, foundational and high-level academic skills, analytical thinking, writing and critical inquiry; the ASA Coordinator also assists students with diagnosed learning differences. The ASC Coordinator provides the staff of each division with professional development and facilitates a coaching model with faculty to support a “push-in” framework that allows for collaborative partnerships in support of all students’ learning experiences. The ASC Coordinator creates and maintains a K-12 process for monitoring and evaluating services provided to students in the Academic Skills Center and is expected to share data with the Head of School, Division Heads and teachers, where appropriate. The Coordinator works with small groups of middle and upper school students, provides coaching for K-12 teachers, Department Chairs (MS/US), and Grade Level Leads (LS) and partners with Division Heads to carry out the Center’s goals. The ASC Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating services for outside providers in the After-School Skills Center Program. Additionally, the ASC Coordinator facilitates individual and small group faculty workshops in and out of the classroom to model, partner, and support faculty to differentiate instruction for all students, integrate metacognitive strategies for learning, and design and practice student-centered learning approaches. RESPONSIBILITIES This position reports to the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Primary Responsibilities - Collaborate with the upper school counselor to ensure specific accommodations for the SAT and ACT are implemented for students that qualify.
- Provide 1:1 or small group targeted support to students in the Academic Skills Center.
- Provide academic support to students with evaluations through skill-building, metacognitive learning strategies, and direct curricular instruction when appropriate/assigned.
- Work with teachers to identify students with learning needs, facilitate their evaluation, design, share, and help teachers and students use an individualized support plan.
- Partner with parents to discuss their child’s learning needs and develop individualized support plans.
- Collaborate with tutors, when appropriate, to ensure students are adequately supported in and out of school.
- Promote equity and inclusion for students in all classrooms, and help to ensure support for all students regardless of financial means.
- Collaborate with the admissions department to ensure admissions assessments capture the data needed to make informed admissions decisions.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES - Bachelor of Arts in the field or related area required.
- Master of Arts in the field or related field preferred.
- Experience in using and implementing an effective RTI model.
- Evidence of being able to execute up to date strategies and methods to provide interventions for students with diagnosed learning differences.
- Have a deep understanding of differentiation of instruction and how it applies in a K-12 setting.
- Experience in coaching or planning with teachers as it relates to differentiation.
- Experience working directly with middle and upper school students is preferred. If the individual doesn’t have experience in that age group they must be comfortable and enjoy working with that age group.
