The Town School, a co-educational Nursery-8th grade independent school, seeks an accomplished educator to serve as our next Director of Equity and Community Action. We seek a leader to build on our related successes, identify new ways for our becoming an anti-racist institution, and champion our school along the way. Reporting directly to the Head of School and serving as a member of our Administrative team, the Director of Equity and Community Action oversees ongoing implementation of our 2018 Statement of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity and relevant strands of our 2020 Long Range Plan, including: - Leading, with our Administrative Team, faculty and staff professional development grounded in equity, inclusion and anti-racism
- Overseeing, with our Academic Team, curriculum redesign to ensure greater inclusion and representation
- Designing and implementing, with our Administrative Team, protocols to increase the presence (hiring and retention), meaning, and satisfaction of our Faculty and Staff of Color,
- Collaborating with divisional leadership on student affinity spaces and other means of supporting our Students of Color
- Leading our community action initiatives and collaborate with faculty on civic engagement programming
- Working with our Admissions office to recruit and retain students from diverse backgrounds
- Partnering with our Communications team to publicize all related events
- Managing parent education on equity and inclusion
- Teaching Equity curricula across the academic program
- Serving as liaison to our Parents of Students of Color group and our Board of Trustees’ Equity committee

Sustained achievement as an equity practitioner is essential, as is support of Town’s mission and values, and a demonstrated commitment to the aspirations in our school’s Statement on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity.
