Alumni Engagement Coordinator Objective: To partner with alumni and alumni families in developing initiatives to strengthen a culture of philanthropy that inspires involvement and investment in the growth and strength of St. Martin’s Episcopal School. Summary: The Alumni Engagement Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Institutional Advancement and function as a liaison between alumni, the Alumni Board, and the school. This person will work collaboratively with the members of the Advancement team and the Alumni Board to promote alumni engagement and advance the mission of St. Martin’s Episcopal School. This individual will, under supervision of the Director of Institutional Advancement, assist with alumni fundraising activities, plan and implement alumni special events, assist with all activities related to the school’s 75th anniversary celebration, provide support for class reunions, maintain regular communication with alumni class agents, and serve as the liaison between the alumni and St. Martin’s administration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Work with the Director of Institutional Advancement to implement measurable and actionable goals to increase alumni giving to the annual fund.
- Plan, implement, and work with volunteers on all alumni special events and activities, including but not limited to Homecoming and Fall Fellowship, reunions and gatherings, award committees and events, Brown Bag Luncheon, Spirits Party, 75th anniversary celebration, and more.
- Oversee the annual Athletic Hall of Fame, Martin de Tours, and Dorothy Porter committees and award ceremonies.
- Using class agent information and other sources, write the “Scattered Saints,” births, nuptials, memorial, and alumni profile sections of The Bell within the deadlines set by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and maintain current and ongoing communications to alumni about the school on the school’s website, e-newsletters, and social media.
- Research, profile, and record the stories of alumni in the database. Assist in entering and maintaining data for alumni donors and prospects in the database.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, twelve-month position. Travel and some weekend and evening work will be required. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree required.
- A minimum of two years of development, alumni relations, or fundraising experience preferred.
- Ability to meet and maintain effective relationships with alumni, students, faculty, administrators, parents, and guests.
- Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to write, proofread, and edit copy.
- High degree of cultural competency and demonstrated commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Google Suite required.
- Willingness to learn how to use ConstantContact to send email correspondence and updates to alumni. Follow all established procedures, guidelines, and time schedules for data input and operations.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Strong organizational skills; knowledge of Google programs, Word, and Excel; willingness to learn new software programs; the ability to compose letters and handle miscellaneous correspondence; and excellent communication skills. The Alumni Engagement Coordinator must exemplify cordiality at all times, be flexible and willing to work with all constituencies of St. Martin’s, and serve as a liaison between the alumni and other constituencies of St. Martin’s.
