Founded in 1810, The Lawrenceville School, one of the country’s premier independent schools, is located in central New Jersey, five miles south of Princeton, 55 miles south of New York City, and 40 miles north of Philadelphia. Lawrenceville attracts outstanding students in grades 9-12, including about two dozen post-graduates. Lawrenceville’s 814 students come from more than 30 states and 40 countries, with more than a quarter receiving assistance from a $12.9 million dollar financial aid budget. Lawrenceville strives to recruit, retain, and support a diverse and talented faculty and staff who both reflect the diversity of our student body and are committed to our mission: to inspire the best in each to seek the best for all.
The Lawrenceville School announces an opening for a History teacher. We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic, collegial individuals who want to work with both adults and high school students in a collaborative and inclusive academic setting. Experience teaching World History and/or non-Western History is a plus.
The Lawrenceville History Department encourages students to understand the nature and methods of historical inquiry as part of their development as critical thinkers, to learn about accounts of the past in order to expand their perspectives on the present, and to encourage their development as well-informed, curious, and engaged global citizens.
