Working Title: Director of Institutional Advancement FLSA Classification: Exempt Supervisor(s): John Evans Supervisor(s)’ Title(s): Head of School I. PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Director of Institutional Advancement is responsible for planning, managing, and implementing activities that increase, diversify and sustain philanthropic support for Village School, serves as an administrative team member by providing ongoing management and implementation for the following functions: fundraising, volunteerism, community outreach, alumni relations, grandparent relations, special events, advancement record-keeping, public relations, and marketing. II. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: - Develop and implement all fundraising programs, including the annual fund campaign, capital campaign, endowment and planned giving campaigns, and solicitation of grants from foundations and corporations.
- Oversee all fundraising events.
- Work in partnership with the Board of Trustees’ Development Chair.
- Work in partnership with the Village School Parent Association (VSPA) to provide a cohesive parent-run fundraising program.
- Attend VSPA committee meetings as needed.
- Implement and oversee the Annual Fund Phonathon and follow-up
- Prepare reports for the Board of Trustees.
Alumni Relations: - Oversee the development of a strong program of alumni relations.
- Develop a stewardship program for alumni and alumni parents.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of alumni reunions and other alumni events.
Grandparent Relations - Develop and maintain a strong program of grandparent relations.
- Develop a database for grandparents and special friends
- Oversee the planning and implementation of grandparent events.
- Develop a stewardship program for grandparents.
Special Events
- Plan and oversee special events, including the Major Fundraising and Donor Cocktail Party
- Work with Director of Development and Parent Engagement to facilitate parent work on school events.
Record-Keeping - Maintain records of all fundraising activities.
- Prepare regular reports for the Board of Trustees.
Public Relations and Marketing - Promote a positive image of Village School in the educational community, as well as in the larger community.
- Work with the Director of Communications to create advancement publications.
Other Duties - Participate in meetings with the Board of Trustees as needed.
- Supervise development staff members and monitor the development budget.
- Participate in admissions events as needed.
