Episcopal High School is seeking a candidate to serve as the Varsity Head Football coach for the 2021-22 school year. This role is envisioned as a component of a full-time position to be combined with other significant school-related teaching or administrative duties, depending on the strengths and interests of the candidates. There is flexibility to consider an outstanding candidate in a part time role, without other duties. The successful candidate will understand, appreciate, and capitalize on the role that athletics in general, and football in particular, plays in helping players learn to build together, work together, and achieve together, from a range of backgrounds, perspectives, and identities. The successful candidate will also further develop that understanding and appreciation in their athletes. Specific responsibilities and characteristics will be to: - Offer positive leadership of the entire football program, developing a plan to integrate fundamental teaching at all levels.
- Bring a deep understanding of all aspects of football and best coaching practices
- Encourage a sense of belonging for all players who are a part of the program through relationship-building that focuses on character as well as athletic ability.
- Understand and support the academic responsibilities of the players
- Value strength & conditioning, nutrition, and playing multiple sports in helping the players to realize their full potential as athletes.
- Build a belief among players that achievement comes through hard work and teamwork.
- Build relationships with member schools in our league and work collaboratively to make the league stronger.
- Understand the VISAA and IAC policies and rules and support the implementation of those policies and rules.
- Work in partnership with the admissions office both to communicate to prospective students and families the values and ideals of the entire Episcopal community and to attract students who aspire to excel in both the classroom and on the football field at Episcopal High School.
- Support players’ transitions to college, inclusive of establishing relationships with college and university programs in support of the recruiting process.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and supervise assistant coaches in support of their professional development.
Required: - Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to hold a teaching or administrative position (waived for part time applicants)
- Leadership experience within a competitive program
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of the nature of boarding schools
Compensation will be competitive and relative to experience and responsibilities assumed upon employment.
