FLOATER TEACHER Blue School is an independent school in downtown Manhattan that serves children from age 2 through 8th grade. Please learn more about us at www.blueschool.org. We are currently seeking a floater teacher to provide assistance to the teaching team to ensure a safe and consistent environment. JOB DESCRIPTION: - Report to Director or Lead Teacher upon arrival for daily assignment
- Work as a team to meet the needs of the children in the classroom and school as a whole
- Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
- When appropriate participate in open communication with parents
- Maintain confidentiality
- Clean and arrange classroom environment in accordance to program goals and operations
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
- Attend necessary staff meetings
- Daily assignments may include coverage for other staff during breaks and planning time, clean toys and educational materials, clean common areas such as bathrooms, kitchen, break room and outdoor play areas, remove garbage, inventory supplies, organize art and supplies cabinets.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED - A deep appreciation for student?centered, engaging, and innovative teaching practices
- Knowledge of independent school culture and functioning
- H.S diploma
- Has experience in early childhood education
- Ongoing professional development in the field of child development
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Technology skills and ease with using platforms like Zoom for virtual meetings
- Demonstrate organizational abilities
- Ability to build rapport with families and community members
- Must meet physical requirements of the job including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
