Severn School is searching for a full time Upper School Spanish teacher to begin in August of 2021. The ideal candidate can teach all levels of Upper School Spanish, will have a strong educational background with a degree in a related field, and will be interested in coaching or club leadership. Previous secondary school teaching experience is preferred but not required. Instruction at Severn starts with relationships and emphasizes the importance of understanding, connections, and teamwork in order to create a learning environment that promotes both achievement and inclusivity. The Severn faculty is a community of learners committed to ongoing professional development, reflection, collaboration, and collegiality, and a premium is placed on the development and employment of authentic teaching, learning, and assessment methods. At Severn, we believe that a variety of pursuits, including but not limited to leadership training, service, clubs, the advisory program, athletics, and the arts are foundational components of our educational experience. A full time faculty member’s position, which includes participation in these roles beyond the classroom, reflects our belief in and commitment to living the school’s deep-rooted mission, which promises that students are known and valued. In order to continue our work toward building an inclusive environment, candidates from diverse or non-traditional backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Qualified candidates should send a cover letter, resume, and a list of at least three current references to Steve Soden, Upper School Head, at s.soden@severnschool.com. |
