Lake Forest Academy (LFA) and the Global Youth Leadership Institute (GYLI) seek an experienced candidate who can help advance the missions of Lake Forest Academy, the Stuart Center for Global Leadership (SCGL) and the Global Youth Leadership Institute. Lake Forest Academy’s Stuart Center for Global Leadership (SCGL) hosts the offices of Global Youth Leadership Institute (GYLI) and serves as the central hub for a Global Center providing direction, support, and facilitation for immersive, experiential learning and community building. The Executive Director cultivates opportunities for the school, faculty, and students to connect, reflect, engage, transform and apply lessons of Global Leadership Principles to the betterment of the individual and school community that builds global citizens and global perspectives. Director of Stuart Center Expectations The Executive Director will serve as a role model of SCGL’s & GYLI’s mission and values. They will actively seek collaborations with SCGL-GYLI staff, teachers, and students to create experiences and learning opportunities that build global perspectives and foster global citizenship. This person will report to the Head of School. Specific Duties and Tasks for both the Stuart Center for Global Leadership and Global Youth Leadership Institute: - Set vision, yearly theme and strategic plan.
- Manage all financial accounts in coordination with the LFA Business Office.
- Coordinate day-to-day decision making in collaboration with LFA and GYLI staff.
Specific Duties and Tasks for the Stuart Center for Global Leadership (SCGL): - Hire, train, and evaluate SCGL staff, program coordinator teams, and interns.
- Oversee all travel programs (co-curricular and curricular) to include aligning with school mission, researching logistics and vendors, meeting with program providers, teachers, participants and their families, and pre-departure requirements to include visas and vaccines. Keep accurate records for the Business Office.
- Help facilitate financial aid for travel programs
- Coordinate mission-aligned service learning opportunities and programming for LFA students
- Oversee and facilitate any school retreats: freshman, senior, and faculty.
- Engage faculty on SCGL programs and opportunities for collaboration such as global programs, visiting speakers, training and conferences. Assist teachers with creating opportunities in connection with their own classroom work, which may include virtual collaboration.
- Support and train faculty in their role as student advisors.
- Serve on LFA’s Deans Council and Academic Council.
- Chair global education administrative meetings.
Specific Duties and Tasks for the Global Youth Leadership Institute: - Set vision and strategic plan with advice and direction of the GYLI Advisory Board. Summarize progress toward annual and strategic goals in an annual report for discussion at an Advisory Board meeting.
- Take leadership responsibility for the health, safety, and curriculum content of all GYLI programs.
- Keep up with programs and global education literature to develop new curriculum and program elements. Establish a visible presence in global education circles through conference attendance and presentation.
- Prepare and report on annual GYLI budgets at GYLI Advisory Board meetings
- Maintain a 3-year budget plan.
- Approve contracts for speakers, vendors, facilities and all service providers.
- Negotiate terms, costs, and compensation for GYLI custom programs, consulting, and presentations.
- Review insurance policies and prepare documentation for an annual insurance audit.
- With advice of the GYLI Advisory Board, review, and edit as needed, GYLI policies including medical, safety, travel guidelines, and Advisory Board governing documents.
- Report three times per year to the GYLI Advisory Board of Directors.
- Recruit new GYLI Advisory Board members and complete their orientation.
- Oversee the evaluation of all programs. Report strengths and proposed areas of improvement at GYLI Advisory Board meetings.
- Assign and direct tasks of GYLI staff and interns.
- Manage GYLI relationship and recruit enrollment at a network of schools with phone calls, in- person meetings, and school visits.
- Edit and develop marketing materials: brochures, flyers, on-site signs and materials at conferences, and website content.
- Share post-institute reports and evaluation data to the GYLI Advisory Board and LFA Head of School.
- Write GYLI Advisory Board meeting minutes and updates with staff assistance.
- Develop and implement an annual plan for GYLI fundraising with individual, corporate, and foundation supporters.
- Write, edit, and submit grants and funding proposals.
- Serve as Program Coordinator for GYLI summer programs and workshops as necessary.

- Strong facilitation skills for guiding student and faculty conversations and learning experiences

- Ability/experience with payroll and business accounting software such as QuickBooks
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Willingness to get involved in a boarding school community
Compensation/Benefits: Lake Forest Academy offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes full medical and dental coverage, 403(b) retirement plan, and other benefits. Final salary will be commensurate with the experience and expertise of the final appointed candidate.
