New England Innovation Academy seeks an inspiring middle and high school Learning Support Coordinator who will help develop students’ passions and curiosities and enable them to think deeply about the world. We seek a dynamic Learning Support Coordinator who inspires students and works collaboratively and creatively with colleagues in various curricular areas across grades 6-12. Candidates should also have a love of teaching middle and high school students. Reporting to the Dean of Community Life, the Learning Support Coordinator will serve as a thought partner and collaborator to the Social Emotional Coordinator in the creation of the NEIA Wellness Center, the execution of the formal wellbeing curriculum, and other initiatives, and to the Dean of Faculty and faculty advisors concerning accommodations, and other learning support matters. The Learning Support Coordinator serves as a member of the faculty. Faculty at NEIA encourage collaborative teamwork in the classroom, teaching students to communicate effectively and thoughtfully, justify their reasoning, and consider multiple perspectives when solving problems. Faculty invest in the life of the school by participating in the advisory program, social and emotional learning, weekly department meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings, anti-bias training, residential life when we include boarding students, and any and all aspects that support the student experience. Faculty are responsible for creating and maintaining a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential and accomplish the learning goals of NEIA. Duties include: - Embodying NEIA’s principles of empathy, equity, personalization, authentic work, and collaboration in all work activities and actions;
- Supporting classroom teachers by sharing expertise and recommending instruction strategies, particularly with accommodations to address student learning barriers, diversify access to the curriculum and multi-level learning;
- Working effectively with advisors to empower students to achieve personal and educational goals;
- Liaising with educational psychologists and specialist services;
- Meeting with parents/guardians, inviting their participation and support, and making them feel comfortable and valued as part of the educational team;
- Helping struggling students to overcome or work around challenges that interfere with learning and develop the self-confidence and independence necessary to reach their potential;
- Reviewing student records, psychoeducational testing, and sharing pertinent information with classroom teachers;
- Using a variety of assessment procedures to gather additional information necessary to determine appropriate interventions and programming;
- Coordinate and facilitate team meetings for the annual review of goals for students in need of individualized learning plans
- Serving as a resource and information source for faculty;
- Establishing a system of files, records, and documentation that is professional, efficient, and accountable.
