We are seeking a full-time Mathematics teacher to join our teaching faculty starting August, 2021. The ideal candidate will have a passion both for working with upper school students and sharing mathematical knowledge. Our current needs are in teaching Geometry through Precalculus, at the college-preparatory and honors levels, with the possibility of teaching IB and/or AP courses as well. Responsibilities: - Prepare and deliver meaningful lessons to students; normal teaching load is four sections per year
- Integrate technology into instruction to engage students during in-person classes and under remote learning scenarios
- Professional collaboration with colleagues, particularly in areas of designing and refining curriculum
- Meet school guidelines regarding grading, recordkeeping, and use of the learning management system to post information about classes
- Participate in school-wide activities such as workshops, special events and professional meetings
- Demonstrate flexibility and instructional agility in response to multiple teaching and learning scenarios in response to the coronavirus - in person, remote, and hybrid scenarios are all options as NA responds to health and safety guidelines
- Engage in the life of Newark Academy as a club sponsor, advisor, and/or coach, and through various committees
Qualifications: - Experience teaching math in middle school, upper school, or higher ed setting
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree is preferred
- Experience working with and supporting a diverse community of students, parents, and colleagues
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience working in independent schools preferred but not required
