Rye Country Day School is seeking a maternity leave replacement teacher for a range of Middle School (6-8) and Upper School (9-12) Video and Public Speaking courses beginning in late March 2021. In addition, the ideal candidate would be able to assist the larger school community with video editing projects. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Teach a range of Upper School Video classes, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels
- Teach a section of Upper School Public Speaking
- Supervise the Middle School Student Leadership Council to produce episodes of “Good Morning RCDS!”
- Assist the Office of Communications & Marketing with school-wide video projects
- Assess student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback of their work
- Periodically write reports that evaluate student performance and demonstrate knowledge of students’ experiences
- Participate in faculty and departmental meetings, special activities, and rotational duties
Desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art or related field (with an emphasis on video production)
- Ability to step into a multifaceted role with relative ease
- Familiarity with Zoom and hyflex teaching
- Knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro, After Effects, iMovie, and other video editing software
- 3-5 years of experience teaching preferred
- Comfort and excitement for working with middle school and high school students
- Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
- Ability to support the extra-curricular life of the school
