Sierra Canyon is seeking a full time Lower School Visual Arts Instructor for the 2021-2022 school year. Candidates should have 3 - 6 years of art teaching experience (mixed media, drawing/painting, 3-D art, etc) at the PreK - 6th grade level at an independent school. A bachelor's degree in art (or art education) is required, and a master's degree and/or professional work related to the subject area is preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Teach many different grade levels from PreK - 6th grade with developmentally appropriate content, instruction and pedagogy. * Demonstrate mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for courses taught.? * Create lesson plans, aligned with current trends that drive instruction through formative assessment and differentiation.? * Perform duties expected of a full time faculty member. * Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom that supports students' independent learning, collaboration, and choice, incorporating mutual respect. * Exhibit a commitment to continuous professional growth and work with administrators to develop and follow through on development and a commitment to learning. * Attend all faculty meetings, specialist meetings, and other meetings as required. * Complete grades/comments, and other forms of academic communication in a timely, professional manner. Sierra Canyon School is a nonprofit independent, nondenominational, coeducational day school in the northern San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. With an enrollment of 1,000 students in grades PK-12, admission is selective. Sierra Canyon School is located on 40 beautiful, rustic acres and has two campuses across the street from each other: the Lower Campus for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Six and the state-of-the-art Upper Campus for students in grades 7 - 12.
