Details Posted: January 20, 2021 Location: Boca Raton, Florida Show Map Type: Full Time - Faculty Category: Math Department Chairs collaborate with the Dean of Faculty, the Dean of Studies and the Lower, Middle and Upper School division heads in the development and delivery of mission-aligned curriculum and instructional practices. The Math Department Chair is responsible for leading the successful implementation of a high-quality educational program and managing the professional performance of the faculty in the department. Our Lower and Middle School programs foster student inquiry and flexible problem-solving through the Singapore Math curriculum and promote interdisciplinary collaboration in the implementation of the IB Primary Years Program and Middle Years Program. The Upper School curriculum offers students a range of pre-AP, AP and IB Diploma Program coursework that offers a rigorous preparation for college level mathematics. Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Dean of Faculty to manage the support and development of departmental faculty according to the Guide to Performance Management Collaborate with the Dean of Studies, division heads and department faculty to develop and implement the scope and sequence of academic coursework, curricular content, course material, and assessment practices Collaborate with the Dean of Studies and division heads regarding faculty teaching assignments, in conjunction with the Dean of Faculty Collaborate with the division head and Dean of Studies regarding student placement in department courses Serve on the Academic Programming Committee, the Instructional Leadership Team, and the hiring committee for departmental faculty Manage the department budget Oversee the daily operation of the department Set departmental goals and hold regularly scheduled department meetings Work with parents, faculty, and relevant senior administrators when student concerns arise Manage department representation at school-wide events (i.e. open houses; curriculum coffees) Coordinate department-specific events (i.e. Poetry House, Math Games) Teach up to three sections Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred A strong background in curriculum and instruction Outstanding teaching skills Outstanding leadership skills Clear written and oral communication skills Excellent organizational skills Cultural competence Sense of humor Create a Job Alert for Similar Jobs About Saint Andrew's School An independent, co-educational school for grades JK - 12, Saint Andrew's School seeks to educate students in mind, body and spirit.
