Details Posted: January 20, 2021 Location: Boca Raton, Florida Show Map Type: Full Time - Faculty Category: History/Social Studies Position Summary The teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere and implementing an instructional program in which students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential in mind, body and spirit. We seek dynamic individuals who are collaborative and innovative in their approach to teaching and who work to create an inclusive and supportive classroom and school-wide culture. The strongest candidates will be those who can teach a variety of Social Studies courses and differentiate instruction for learners at all levels. This position will teach five sections of Upper School Social Studies courses based on the faculty member’s expertise and will lead an Upper School advisory. Duties and Responsibilities Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences ensuring continual student growth and achievement. Prepares course material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and assessments ensuring completion of the curriculum including AP and IB if applicable. Provides students with ongoing and effective feedback about their work. Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis. Collaborates with colleagues to enhance the instructional environment and to ensure that there is a logical scope and sequence to the Social Studies Department program. Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning. Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating activities and plans. Maintains expertise in subject matter through professional development. Stays current with technology advances and incorporates technology in the classroom. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
