Canterbury School is seeking a dynamic, talented, and experienced Religion teacher to join our team as a full-time faculty member in the Lower and Middle School. This position is responsible for teaching multiple sections of Religion to students in the Lower and Middle Schools, as well as coordinating and leading our Chapel program. Additionally, there are some supervisory prep periods associated with this position. Canterbury, although it is not affiliated with a church, was founded on the Christian principles of love, kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. The curriculum places a heavy emphasis on the Christian tradition, but the school also seeks a candidate who can teach lessons on multiple faiths and bring a comparative lense to the curriculum. Canterbury requires strong teaching skills, a deep understanding of high school students, a strong background in Religion, knowledge of best practices in pedagogy, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate closely with members of the department, administration, colleagues, and parents. - The active pursuit of professional development in the areas of pedagogy, teaching techniques, and technology relevant to the field and subject in order to provide students with a learning experience of the highest quality.
- Monitoring and reporting on the performance of students and coordinating with administration, teachers, and parents to address concerns and correct problems should they arise.
- Other general supervisory duties throughout the school day, as assigned by the division directors.
