The Director of Advancement reports directly to the Head of School and collaborates with the entire leadership team including the Director of Athletics and the Director of Admission and Financial Aid. The Director of Advancement, under the Direction of the Head of School, is responsible for all aspects of fundraising including the Annual Fund, Major Gifts, Special Events, Grants, Capital Campaign, Alumni Program, Corporate Sponsorships and Communication. The Director of Advancement provides day-to-day leadership to the Advancement Team. The Director of Advancement personally cultivates and solicits annual fund and major gifts. This job is successfully accomplished through the individual's own direct efforts as well as effectively leveraging the skills and contributions of Maui Prep parents, Alumni, Board of Trustee members, Administrative Team members, the Advancement Team and Volunteers. - Develops ongoing professional development program for Advancement Team.
- Recognizes Advancement Team for accomplishments.
- Manages annual giving program designed to raise unrestricted support for the school.
- Oversees events designed to build community, steward donors and raise funds.
- Oversees stewardship program designed to build a culture of philanthropy and to appropriately thank and recognize donors.
- Brings to bear the resources of the Advancement Office in support of campaigns.
- Reports regularly and supports the Head of School and the Board of Trustees on programs and fundraising results.
- Participates fully in the life of the school, including attending school functions, special events, assemblies and other activities.
Annual Giving - In conjunction with the Head of School, develops a detailed plan for the annual giving program.
- Sets goals based on historical analysis of donor and prospect base and School needs.
- Develops targeted annual giving campaigns for Trustees, parents of current students, grandparents of current students, alumni parents, alumni and employees.
- Establishes calendar of solicitations by targeted constituency and fundraising strategy.
- Personally, contacts prospects as appropriate for the annual fund
- Manages an effective program of personal solicitation utilizing top-level volunteers, including identifying, enlisting, training, and recognizing volunteers.
- Uses multiple channels in soliciting donors.
- Coordinates annual fund with other school fundraising.
- Ensures that major gift prospects are identified among current annual fund donors.
- Recommends and implements changes in strategies to meet program goals and objectives.
- Works collaboratively to develop annual giving collateral materials, including letters, brochures, videos, etc.
- Coordinates gift acknowledgment and pledge fulfillment.
- Coordinates stewardship plan for annual giving donors.
- Maximizes the corporate matching gift potential among current and prospective annual giving donors.
Advancement Programs & Events - Develops, plans and implements a year-round program of events and activities directed at all School constituencies to increase their connection, involvement and knowledge of all facets of the school.
- Ensures that the school is building relationships with a wide range of community members, locally, regionally and nationally.
- Develops and implements Advancement programs and events that engage the School community and enrich the educational experience of current students and works in unison with the Head of School and Board of Trustees.
- Works collaboratively in developing and implementing a communications program that includes social media and email for all Advancement events.
- Grant Writing and Corporate Sponsorships are imperative as they are driven via the Advancement Director
Alumni Programs - Develops, plan and implement a year-round program of events and activities directed at alumni to increase their connection, involvement and knowledge of all facets of the school.
- Ensures that the school is building relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally and nationally.
- Develops and implements student/alumni programs that engage alumni and enrich the educational experience of current students.
- Provides leadership to the Maui Preparatory Alumni Association.
- Plans alumni reunions.
- Works collaboratively in developing and implementing an alumni communications program that includes social media and email.
