Native or near-native fluency in Spanish is required as is at least two years of experience teaching Spanish language at the elementary level. Knowledge of the world’s Spanish-speaking cultures is also required. The teacher in this role will also participate in the life of the school outside the classroom, faculty meetings, lunch and recess duties, and advising student activities. We seek teachers who believe in progressive, differentiated, and developmentally-aligned models of teaching and learning; possess knowledge of and experience with research-based approaches to elementary Spanish curriculum and instruction; understand the importance of cultural competency and instructional technology; bring a close integration of the arts and experiential education into classroom curricula; and are attuned to the social and emotional growth of students. A demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and inclusive community is essential. Warmth, compassion, cultural competence, commitment to equity and social justice, a learning stance, flexibility, humor, pragmatism, and accessibility with students, faculty, families, and administrators are essential qualities for this position.
