: St. Gabriel’s Catholic School seeks a Director of STEAM to oversee the creative and collaborative PK-8th grade learning d.lab (makerspace). Ideal candidates should identify as a teacher, designer, inventor, scientist, or scholar – any combination, as long as you make things that matter. Ideal candidates should also have experience managing a makerspace, successfully implementing STEAM-based curriculum, as well as classroom teaching experience and the ability to collaborate, inspire, and bring joy to the community. The position requires dedication to the mission of St. Gabriel’s Catholic School by providing the appropriate curriculum, learning atmosphere, and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth toward a successful future. - Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
- Provides appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning
- Uses effective instructional methods/models according to professional standard practice
- Facilitate hands-on projects with students; team-teach with classroom teachers. Create opportunities and programming in the makerspace, including partnering with outside organizations and experts
- Manage the d.lab, an inclusive, diverse, safe, and creative space for teaching, learning, and making, including scheduling, inventory, and equipment upkeep
- Must be a flexible and collaborative team member who can support, inspire, and motivate others and forge decisions effectively
- Coaches and mentors teachers during PBL projects in providing assessment for understanding student application
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- School-Wide – Coordinate and collaborate with Director of Innovation to ensure STEAM and project-based learning are integrated throughout the SGCS curriculum
- Model and co-teach lessons/projects that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
- Plan with teachers in cycle meetings to integrate STEAM/Making into core curriculum through PBL with Director of Innovation
- Oversee the tracking of technology objectives through the curriculum and identify areas needing improvement
- Assist with the implementation of large scale web and app-based curriculum initiatives
- Operate as an advocate for and supporter of Project-based learning
- Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning
- Demonstrates gains in student performance that are in keeping with school goals
- Demonstrates a willingness to respond to individual learning needs
- Provide guidance and coaching to teachers on educational and instructional methodology related to inquiry and the implementation of project-based curriculum
- Facilitate the development, implementation, and communication of a shared vision of learning that reflects excellence and equity for all students
- Demonstrates the skills and attitudes of a master level teacher, instructional coach, and actively engages others in professional development
- Investigate and plan for implementation of School Maker Faire with Director of Innovation
- Knowledge of current best-practice in project-based learning and STEAM/Maker education
- Working with the Director of Innovation to implement and grow Outdoor Education programs and learning spaces.
