Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of 970 students located in the Park Slope section of New York City. The Lower School is seeking a full time head teacher for the 2021-22 school year. Candidates should have at least five years of head teaching experience in a Lower School setting. A Master’s degree in Education is required. Duties will include teaching reading, writing, math, and social studies in a self-contained classroom of approximately 20 students. Familiarity with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Program and with the TERC and Contexts for Learning math programs are preferred. Training and experience in Responsive Classroom and RULER, important aspects of our Lower School program, are also a plus. Candidates should be prepared to work with a team of committed and professional teachers and should expect to be both flexible and collegial in their planning, teaching, and assessing. The teacher in this role will mentor and collaborate with an associate teacher.
